Hispanics Making a Difference
48Hispanic Advancement
Everyone like to use the expression “everyone can make a difference,” and we all know that sometimes it is hard to believe that one person/group can make a difference but it’s true. The U.S. economy depends on Hispanics and our educational progress. In the Pew Hispanic Center Report, “Latinos in Higher Education: Many Enroll, Too few Graduate” by Richard Fry. Fry makes some good points when he talks about how between 2000 and 2025 the white working age population will decline by 5 million when baby boomers retire. While Hispanics are supposed to increase by 18 million, which means that there is a big opportunity for EDUCATED Hispanics to make a difference. As Hispanics, we have to take advantage of this by doing everything we can to get our kids into college and helping them get their degrees!
In trying to help our future generations, we must also help ourselves. In order to do that we must try to get educated ourselves and lead the way when it comes to educational growth. On iHispano.com, I have found a great tool to help us do that, they are offering 3 FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS to anyone trying to get their undergraduate/masters degree. They also offer a place to network with those Hispanics that are already successful with the goal of creating professional relationships to help us in the long run; they also offer Hispanic scholarships, job postings, and much more. As a Hispanic, I know that I want to be considered an asset to the success of this country and I know that as Hispanics, we have a lot to bring to the table.
